Kati,
Your remarks about the

Kati,

Your remarks about the class -its design, execution, stengths and weaknesses are right on the mark -I will be sure to take them all into to close consideration. You did an exceptional job of turning the Myth and History portion of the website into a dynamic, exciting, and creative space to explore the possibilities of Germanna. I particularly enjoyed your impressionistic videos of Germanna and the My Maps mashup of your retracing of the Golden Horseshoe journey.

I am not suprised at all that you will be working in this field over the Summer (and beyond?), and I remain open to you as an ongoing resource for all thinngs tech and otherwise. You are a excellent example of real school in action -taking the concepts and possibilities, investing herculean time and effort into the project (without the traditional carrots), and being appropriately rewarded. Congratulations on a fabulous job throughout the semester and kudos on the new position. You deserve it!

Hey Betsy,

I didn't mean to imply that you did not have the best intentions. You always had a smile on your face and cookies for every meeting, and that meant a lot. I loved working with you, but I understand that the technology was often difficult. I appreciate the research that you contributed to our understanding of Alexander Spotswood, I hope you didn't take my critique too personally. You are really a wonderful person.

-Kati

Hey Kati! You are great! Sorry that I wasn't the best manager, but you did well as leader. I can tell, you will do amazing things!

Thanks Kati!

Excellent Nathan,

Excellent Nathan,

Honest, ariculate and candid, there is nothing wrong with a well-constructed critique of the process overall. I particualrly like your discussion of the insularity of each group, and the difficulties of sharing between them. This was without question a problem and I wonder how much of this had to do with the question of a mission you raised. I also appreciated your recommendation of more group orientated research, that ultimately opens up to a more collaborative overview of the interpretation and design of the virtual exhibit.

I will be interested to know how your notions of the virtual resources as adjunct to the physical colelctions are impacted in a Museum Studies grad school. I am certain this is on of, if not the, most crucial question facing museums more generally, and would be interested to know how they will be imagining this space in two months, no less a year, for the possibilities are changing so quickly.

I was wondering if I should

I was wondering if I should edit that down, but thought leaving it whole might give a better idea of the goings on at the enchanted caste. But you are correct that it gets bogged down in minutiae. So I'll take out the boring parts, and see what I can do about clarifying Mrs. Spottswood.

beginning the journey

I have begun to map out the journey, with commentary from Fontaine's journals and contributions from the Wayland book, in which he traces the route. Did you notice the hybrid feature which allows you to see the geographic surroundings with the map? It's a google earth feature!

Where else would museums go?

The progression of interpretation in museums has steadily increased in value from open storage to interpretative exhibits that attempt to engage the visitors in a physical space. Without the invention of the internet, where would museums have gone next? The virtual exhibit does not replace the physical exhibit, it expands upon it. It can be assumed that museum curators long feared this step into the virtual world because they feared that this virtual space would serve as a replacement for their physical space. Although the American public may be enamoured with the internet for the sake of fitting their explorative efforts into their busy schedules, museums in their traditional form will not cease to exist. People explore because they wish they could be there, which means, some of these explorers will become visitors.
